Legion Patch 7.2 Survival Guide

First I would like to apologise for the lack of content. Real life has been happening a lot lately.

Patch 7.2 goes live tomorrow. This post will cover just the changes relating to Feral Druids. As usual, MMO Champion has a detail on all of the patch features, WoW Head has survival guide up, and there is a good summary guide of things to do on Reddit that I recommend. As always, be sure to check out the Fluid Druid.

Feral Changes
Very few changes to Feral. As to be expected, there are some buffs (poor scaling) and a few legendary changes.

  • Feral Druids now deal 4% more damage with Rake, Shred, Swipe, Thrash, Brutal Slash, Moonfire, Ferocious Bite, Ashamane’s Frenzy, and Rip.

A 4% buff isn’t very much, but at least it applies to all abilities and not favouring direct damage over damage over time.

  • PVP
    • Bloodletter’s Frailty increases the damage you deal to the target by 15% in PvP.

Legendary Changes

  • All Specs
    • Sephuz’s Secret – Now always grants 10% increased movement speed and 2% Haste. When triggered, this bonus is increased to the current values of 70% movement speed and 25% Haste. The 10% movement speed bonus now stacks with other movement speed bonuses. This legendary is interesting. It was originally a ‘utility’ legendary, but with the buffs it should be closer to par. These buffs should make it more competitive without having to use interrupts and stuns on-cooldown to trigger the proc.
    • Ekowraith, Creator of Worlds – Now has an additional 658 Haste (@ ilvl 940) as a third bonus secondary stat. It’s a shame that haste is so bad for Feral’s. That said, this tier set having 6 pieces give you more flexibility to keep your 4-set bonus and mix-n-match legendaries. At ilvl 940 (after upgrades) it’s not too bad in stats alone.
    • Added new craftable Legendary items
      •  Demon Hunter, Druid, Monk, Rogue – Boots) The Sentinel’s Eternal Refuge

As far as legendaries go, this one is not too bad in pure stats. Mastery and crit are the top two for Feral. The three gem sockets lets you double down on the mastery. However the movement speed is pure utility with tenuous throughput.
  • Feral Specific
    • Chatoyant Signet – Now also increases your Energy regeneration by 5%.More energy seems like it would be good. But if you spam your abilities and are constantly waiting for energy to regenerate, your final cap doesn’t matter. This legendaries requires you to play restrained and really concentrate on your energy management. The buff to energy generation helps offset the downtime from pooling.
    • Fiery Red Maimers – Now also causes your next Maim to cost no Energy.

Now you are aware of the changes it’s time to focus on content. As far as PVE is concerned, make sure that:

  •  Assault on the Broken Shore – Setting Up your Base and Unlocking 7.2 Hub.
  • Unlocking AK 26 – Seeking Lost Knowledge
  • Unlocking your Empowered Traits

Be sure to check out the guides on Reddit, and Icy Veins. See you in Patch 7.2.

Legion Patch 7.1.5 Survival Guide

Patch 7.1.5 goes live today. It brings with it a lot updates and new content. This post will cover just the changes relating to Feral Druids. As usual, MMO Champion has a detail on all of the patch features. Icy Veins has a video and a post about the changes, and WoW Head has survival guide up.

Feral Changes
Most of the changes are buffs, which is always a good thing. However there are a few nerfs. Talent choices remain the same and our spell priority (rotation) stays the same.

Which item is better? How to compare items

Sometimes when a item drops it can be difficult to tell if it’s an upgrade over your currently equipped item. Especially if the secondary stats are different. Maybe haste is your best stat, and is on your current gear, and the new item has crit, which isn’t as good as haste, but the item also has more main stats. How do you tell if it is really an upgrade?

Luckily, there is a way to mathematically calculate if this new item is a true upgrade over you current gear i.e. increase your throughput. It is done using stat weights and some simple multiplication and addition.

Legion Feral Druid Quick Reference Guide

I find that throughout an expansion I have to keep looking up the same information because I keep forgetting it. The aim of this post is to create a quick reference guide that I can refer back to, without the need to go searching through the internet. This post is current as of Patch 7.1.

Legion Patch 7.1 Survival Guide

This week Patch 7.1 was released on October 26. With it comes some new content including:

  • New Karazhan mythic dungeon
    • Entry to the dungeon require attunement. There is a guide at WoW Head. It involves running several mythic dungeons and a few short quests.
  • New Trial of Valor raid
    • A new 3 boss raid that opens two weeks after Patch 7.1. Again there is a guide at WoW Head that explains the quest chains and shows the loot.
  • New Suramar questline
    • Continue the Nightfallen quest chain with these new quests. They should also help with your Nightfallen reputation grind. See WoW Head’s guide.
  • More world quests
  • Blood of Sargeras trader
  • New Raiding with Leashes
    • Pets are available from Wrath of the Lich King raids: Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, and Icecrown Citadel.
  • Class changes

A few updates for Feral Druids:

  • (Balance, Guardian, Feral) Druids how have Regrowth in place of Healing Touch.
With this update, our Healing Touch Macro will need to be updated with Regrowth. Here is the new macro

    #showtooltip
     /console autounshift 0
     /use Regrowth
     /console autounshift 1
  • Activating Incarnation no longer triggers a global cooldown for any spec.
This is a quality of life change I’ve wanted for two expansions. It’s frustrating that it comes at a time when Incarnation is not the talent of choice. A welcomed change none the less.

It appears that the farm in Mists of Pandaria (Sunsong Ranch) has been fixed also. I have been working my farm to collect the mats to craft some Sky Golem mounts to sell. They have been going for 100-110k. Mostly due to the price of herbs being high, and the ability to pick herbs in this mount without being dismounted. At the farm, the master plough was bugged only ploughing 1 square instead of 4, and there were other bugs with some of the other mechanics, pulling weeds etc. With the Blood of Sargeras trader coming with this patch, the price of herbs will likely drop through the floor, which means the price of the Sky Golem will likely drop. Hopefully not by much, maybe around to 60-70k. I’m two thirds of the way through the mats, so I will finish these batch off and see what the price is.

What are your thoughts on Patch 7.1? Too soon? Should have the problems it fixes been fixed before launch? Let me know what you think. Legion Feral Druid Talent Review

The long awaited Legion talent guide is finally ready, for your enjoyment. While most of the post contains my personal views, there are some clear winners in terms of throughput, calculated by members of the community. I’ve put those as my recommendations. There are also some good guides discussing the changes as a whole in greater detail at:

On with the show!
